Published: August 3, 2025
Tom Holland has officially returned as Spider‑Man in the next MCU film Spider‑Man: Brand New Day, stepping into the iconic role after a four-year hiatus . Filming began in Glasgow, transformed into a convincing stand‑in for Lower Manhattan, complete with NYPD vehicles, taxis, and large‑scale action setups featuring a tank chased through city streets .

The New Suit
Much as the recent rumours suggested, Holland debuted new web-slingers on his costume, a new improvement to the wristbands he previously wore in the previous ‘Spider-Man’ films. Fans got a first glimpse of the web shooters while the actor was out and about on the Glasgow sets, where filming is currently underway.
Tom Meets Fans
Videos from the sets in Scotland, show the actor at his candid best, interacting with fans who gathered to watch him film. Tom, dressed in full costume, including his Spidey mask, was seen waving to fans and posing for pictures while making his way to the sets. The actor won hearts by pausing to pose for photos with a young fan, also dressed in a Spider-Man suit.
Glasgow turned into Manhattan
Going by photos that have turned up online, Holland, began his shoot in blocked-off city streets that saw the city being transformed into New York City. Photos from the production sets, featured the building with American flags, yellow NYC taxis, police cars and other notable aesthetics that helped recreate Manhattan.

Videos doing the rounds also featured an armoured vehicle rolling into the streets for the shoot. The leaked photos indicated that Spidey would go up against the Inner Demons. A new video from the sets saw the actor struggling to open the vehicle door to get in.
In an exciting teaser shared on August 2, Holland confidently asked, “Are we ready?” before debuting an upgraded Spider‑Man suit with bold red‑blue tones, raised webbing, and a larger chest emblem—evoking classic comic aesthetics and early franchise designs .
During filming, Tom paused to engage with fans on Bothwell Street—high‑fiving children and even posing for a photo with a young fan dressed in the suit—much to the delight of onlookers .
Sadie Sink’s Role
Sadie Sink, the breakout star of the hit series ‘Strenger Things’, is rumored to be joining the cast, potentially playing the role of Gwen Stacy, from an alternate universe. While Sink was also previously rumoured to be in talks for the role of Jean Grey in the MCU’s X-Men reboot, new rumours indicate a possibility of incorporating the character, previously seen the Andrew Garfield-led ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse’.
The cast includes the return of Zendaya (MJ), Jacob Batalon (Ned), with Sadie Sink and Mark Ruffalo (as Bruce Banner/Hulk), and Michael Mando reprising his role as Scorpion . The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, is set to release on July 31, 2026 .
Tom and Zendaya Return
Tom and co-star Zendaya, who arrived in Scotland last month to film scenes for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, is set to co-star once again in ‘Brand New Day’, which reportedly picks up after the dramatic events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’. In the film, Peter Parker chooses to have his identity wiped from public memory following Doctor Strange’s spell. With the world forgetting Spider-Man, including MJ, played by Zendaya, the question remains if the two will carry on a romantic storyline or if the addition of Sadie Sink as a mystery character will change that dynamics.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is expected to hit cinemas in 2026, ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
